Riding Club and Informational Resource for Cyclists in Central Virginia
Welcome to the new Charlottesville Bicycle Club. We are riding again, and excited to announce some great upgrades to the club that has served Charlottesville’s cycling community for more than 30 years.
CBC is now an incorporated, member-supported, volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the recreational, social, and health benefits of safe cycling in the greater Charlottesville region. In addition to the opportunity to ride and socialize with a fun, friendly group of like-minded people, membership includes multiple benefits such as insurance, a Ride With GPS Club Account, and discounts. The Club is also expanding its mission, with the goal of becoming the go-to forum for cyclists of all abilities in the greater Charlottesville area to connect, ride, and engage.
Check out the ride calendar for upcoming road and gravel rides.
Explore our new website to see what we have to offer. Also, development of this site is an ongoing effort. We plan to add new features to make the site more informative and engaging for all users. Have an idea for a new addition? Interested in helping us expand the club’s reach and service offerings to the local cycling community? Want to organize new group rides for CBC? We’d love to hear from you! (see Contact Us).
Membership is open to all. Guests and visitors are welcome (see New Rider Info).
For details on our transition to a formally organized non-profit entity and how it benefits members, see the Letter from the President.

CBC’s first “Gears and Beers” Event, Oct. 27. Save the date! CBC is partnering with Blue Ridge Cyclery to conduct a bike clinic, 5:30-6:15pm, at the Preston Avenue location. Tentative topic is “frontier first aid.” Come learn how to deal with common mechanical issues that can happen while out on a ride so that you can get home safely.
Following the clinic, CBC will host a happy hour at Random Row Brewing Company from 6:30-7:30p. CBC members can enjoy happy hour specials of $2 off all drafts and/or $3 Mosaic Pale Ale cans. Random Row’s taproom is less than one block from Blue Ridge Cyclery. Parking is available at either location. Come join us at one or both events.
New C Rides! You asked, we answered. Dedicated C-paced rides have been added to the calendar every Sunday. Ride distances are generally in the mid-30 mile range. Come join your fellow C riders on these new fun, friendly outings. And speaking of your fellow riders…
“First Timer’s” No-Drop C Ride, Oct. 30. New to CBC? Haven’t joined a group ride yet and want to learn what it’s all about? Just want to meet and ride with friendly folks? On October 30, CBC will host a 30-mile “no drop” C ride geared towards cyclists wanting to get started with CBC and/or group riding. The group ride will start from the White Hall Community Building at 10:00A. Light refreshments will be provided post-ride. Check the calendar for details.
New Spring Hill Start Time. It’s officially fall! Beginning October 4, the Tuesday/Thursday morning rides from Spring Hill Baptist Church will start at 9:30A.
