I live in Northern VA, but my wife has a thing at UVA Saturday and I was planning on taking my bike down for a ride. I’d love to join yours if that’s ok. I think I’m a B, but you all have bigger hills than I”m used to, so maybe CC. Not sure.

Hi Jeff. You are more than welcome to ride with us on Saturday. This is a hilly route, even by our standards, but it’s a great ride. Due to the amount of climbing, some of us that normally ride a B pace will be a little slower. We hope to see you there!

Would like to ride this route, with the CC/B- option for those who would care to join. Weather permitting of course.

I will likely try to join this ride! I have ridden in Charlottesville a fair bit but will be moving here in July. Coming this weekend to look at a house and would love to ride with the group. Is this mostly road or gravel?

Hi Abigail. This ride is all paved. The gravel rides are marked on the calendar with a GR designation. We hope to see you there!

NOTE: As of 01/01/2022, we have become a member-supported club.  We encourage all of our cycling friends to join us.  For new riders, our club insurance covers non-members of the club for their first ride only.  Thanks.

We are planning additional rides each week, so stay tuned!  If you are interested in helping to organize a group ride for the Club, please contact us!

For details on how group rides are categorized, check out the Ride Classification guidelines.

Requirements For Riders

All riders are required to have a helmet; a tail light, Road ID and a rear-view mirror is strongly recommended.  You are also expected to have adequate fluids and a road-worthy bicycle in good repair.  Many rides, but not all, will include the opportunity to stop at a store to replenish supplies.

You should be prepared to fix a flat tire and perform other minor repairs on the road side.  If you are new to cycling and are not comfortable with these procedures, don’t let that stop you.  However, you might want to talk to a more experienced member before the ride so the group is prepared to help if necessary.

Safety On The Road

The club considers safety to be our very highest priority.  Please review the information on the Safety Page before you join us for a ride.

We hope that you will find this site helpful; your questions and comments are welcomed.
