Batesville Region – Crozet (GR)

April 24 @ 10:00 am

Both long and short route options from Grit Coffee, coffee before and/or after!

This route is a variation of the Yancy Mills Batesville Region route.  The short route cuts out Pounding Creek and the Castle Rock White Mtn legs and is more pavement than gravel. A great ride with variety and rollers.  Saty after the ride for coffee and smoozing.

Parking is limited due to ongoing construction across Heathercroft Lane from Grit.  Preferred parking is at the Western Albemarle High School parking lot .5 mile South on Old Trail Dr and just across 250. Park there and ride to the start/finish.  There is also limited street parking on Claremont Lane behind the Grit parking lot. Please be considerate cyclists don’t take up all the parking for the restaurants next to and including Grit, they won’t appreciate it.

Hey Don, Look forward to meeting you! Parking is still limited but depends on how many people show up for the ride! I am going to park at the school lot so as not to take up more space than I am entitled to.
I am going to be slow, did a very challenging gravel ride today,Saturday.
Hey all you gravel riders who’s coming?
      Peter

NOTE: As of 01/01/2022, we have become a member-supported club.  We encourage all of our cycling friends to join us.  For new riders, our club insurance covers non-members of the club for their first ride only.  Thanks.

As we head into Spring 2022, we are planning additional rides each week, so stay tuned!  If you are interested in helping to organize a group ride for the Club, please contact us!

For details on how group rides are categorized, check out the Ride Classification guidelines.

Requirements For Riders

All riders are required to have a helmet; a tail light, Road ID and a rear-view mirror is strongly recommended.  You are also expected to have adequate fluids and a road-worthy bicycle in good repair.  Many rides, but not all, will include the opportunity to stop at a store to replenish supplies.

You should be prepared to fix a flat tire and perform other minor repairs on the road side.  If you are new to cycling and are not comfortable with these procedures, don’t let that stop you.  However, you might want to talk to a more experienced member before the ride so the group is prepared to help if necessary.

Safety On The Road

The club considers safety to be our very highest priority.  Please review the information on the Safety Page before you join us for a ride.

We hope that you will find this site helpful; your questions and comments are welcomed.
