Fontaine Rider’s Choice (47, B & C, H)

July 2 @ 8:00 am

These three routes start together from the Fontaine Research Park, leave town on Old Lynchburg Road, and stay together for the first 18 miles. The short route returns fairly directly via Old Lynchburg Road back to Fontaine. The other two routes add extra miles and extra climbs before returning via US 250 and through campus.

There are also opinions for shorter 34 and 39 mile routes.

I have decided to do an off schedule ride from Walton School tomorrow. Have fun!

We have never done this ride, but I’m thinking we’ll ride it somewhere in the CC pace. We will probably do the 39 mile route. Hope to have company!

I plan on showing up, pace yet to be determined. With my new digs, I can easily ride to the start now 😄. However, Old Lynchburg makes me a little nervous, but starting early will help. I might also take a different route back into town at the end.

NOTE: As of 01/01/2022, we have become a member-supported club.  We encourage all of our cycling friends to join us.  For new riders, our club insurance covers non-members of the club for their first ride only.  Thanks.

We are planning additional rides each week, so stay tuned!  If you are interested in helping to organize a group ride for the Club, please contact us!

For details on how group rides are categorized, check out the Ride Classification guidelines.

Requirements For Riders

All riders are required to have a helmet; a tail light, Road ID and a rear-view mirror is strongly recommended.  You are also expected to have adequate fluids and a road-worthy bicycle in good repair.  Many rides, but not all, will include the opportunity to stop at a store to replenish supplies.

You should be prepared to fix a flat tire and perform other minor repairs on the road side.  If you are new to cycling and are not comfortable with these procedures, don’t let that stop you.  However, you might want to talk to a more experienced member before the ride so the group is prepared to help if necessary.

Safety On The Road

The club considers safety to be our very highest priority.  Please review the information on the Safety Page before you join us for a ride.

We hope that you will find this site helpful; your questions and comments are welcomed.
