Humpback Rocks Out and Back (38, B & C, VH)
June 18 @ 8:00 am
Starting at the Humpback Rocks Visitors Center at milepost 6 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the route heads south on the Parkway, climbs up to the Raven’s Roost overlook, and continues on the Parkway for another 14 miles. The route then turns around and retraces the Parkway back to Humpback Rocks Visitors Center. There is a lot of climbing, but nothing is too steep.
Saturday rides will now include a C group ride. We encourage our C riders to come out and join us.

18.06.2022Hi Connie. I had reached my maximum at 16.2 miles out after that four mile climb (I have had a chest cold/bronchitis for the last week) and decided after rearing at the overlook to head back north. I asked a tall cyclist in a red jersey who was south-bound to let you all know that I was and hopefully he did so.
Thanks for leading this ride on a temperature perfect day. I nearly got blown over passing Humbacksat that sweeping left curve when a strong gust hit my bike. I was glad I wasn’t riding 55mm wheels!
See toy again soon out there.

18.06.2022Hi Rick. Thanks for reporting in. I didn’t hear anything from the cyclist you talked to. It was gusty out there, but the temperature was perfect! Hope to see you again soon.

17.06.2022Chris and I will be there. With all of this climbing, we usually end up at a C pace.
NOTE: As of 01/01/2022, we have become a member-supported club. We encourage all of our cycling friends to join us. For new riders, our club insurance covers non-members of the club for their first ride only. Thanks.
As we head into Spring 2022, we are planning additional rides each week, so stay tuned! If you are interested in helping to organize a group ride for the Club, please contact us!
For details on how group rides are categorized, check out the Ride Classification guidelines.
Requirements For Riders
All riders are required to have a helmet; a tail light, Road ID and a rear-view mirror is strongly recommended. You are also expected to have adequate fluids and a road-worthy bicycle in good repair. Many rides, but not all, will include the opportunity to stop at a store to replenish supplies.
You should be prepared to fix a flat tire and perform other minor repairs on the road side. If you are new to cycling and are not comfortable with these procedures, don’t let that stop you. However, you might want to talk to a more experienced member before the ride so the group is prepared to help if necessary.
Safety On The Road
The club considers safety to be our very highest priority. Please review the information on the Safety Page before you join us for a ride.
We hope that you will find this site helpful; your questions and comments are welcomed.
