Orange-Gordonsville (40 or 30, Casual Riders, MH)

August 20 @ 8:00 am

This is one of my favorite rides so I would like to encourage casual riders to join the club ride on Saturday. Lots of flat parts, beautiful views, history… The club is planning to start from the Barboursville Firehouse. If you don’t want to do the 40 miles, let me know and we can meet at the Somerset Post Office to cut out the out and back portion of the lollipop. That turns the ride into 30 miles, moderately hilly. But I have to hear from you in the comments below otherwise I will do the 40 on Saturday.

Let me know below if you are coming and where you want to start from. If ONE person says below they want to start from Somerset, I will wait at Somerset for the rest of the group to join. I recommend for those starting in Barboursville to let the rest of the club go first.

Looking forward to seeing other casual riders on Saturday!

I look forward to seeing everyone. Parking at the park is a good idea, there is a bathroom there! I will follow Debi and her friends. Caroline

Very casual rider, starting from Barboursville Firehouse.

There’s a small group of D riders coming to the ride. We plan to park across the street from the fire station, at the Community park.

NOTE: As of 01/01/2022, we have become a member-supported club.  We encourage all of our cycling friends to join us.  For new riders, our club insurance covers non-members of the club for their first ride only.  Thanks.

We are planning additional rides each week, so stay tuned!  If you are interested in helping to organize a group ride for the Club, please contact us!

For details on how group rides are categorized, check out the Ride Classification guidelines.

Requirements For Riders

All riders are required to have a helmet; a tail light, Road ID and a rear-view mirror is strongly recommended.  You are also expected to have adequate fluids and a road-worthy bicycle in good repair.  Many rides, but not all, will include the opportunity to stop at a store to replenish supplies.

You should be prepared to fix a flat tire and perform other minor repairs on the road side.  If you are new to cycling and are not comfortable with these procedures, don’t let that stop you.  However, you might want to talk to a more experienced member before the ride so the group is prepared to help if necessary.

Safety On The Road

The club considers safety to be our very highest priority.  Please review the information on the Safety Page before you join us for a ride.

We hope that you will find this site helpful; your questions and comments are welcomed.
