Scottsville – Yogaville (52, B & C, MH)

May 7 @ 9:00 am

Mostly open but with some hills, this ride takes you through the countryside on both sides of the James River. The long route goes through the Yogaville Satchidananda Ashram with its striking domed shrine. You can visit the shrine by taking a 1-mile side trip; follow the signs when you reach Yogaville (just past the left turn onto Route 604 at mile 22.3).

Saturday rides will now include a C group ride.  We encourage our C riders to come out and join us.

There is also an option for shorter routes of 29 and 37 miles.

We will not be riding in the rain either. Sorry to miss the ride.

The radar projections as of Friday afternoon suggest most of the nasty weather will have blown over with more like a 30–40% chance of light rain during the ride so I’m riding the full route at C pace.

Sadly the rain percentages have increased since last message so I will also reluctantly cancel.

In case someone comes back to this page: not a drop of rain, dry roads, great ride.

This is an awesome route, but I don’t like to ride in the rain as much as I used to. So I’m planning on staying in tomorrow.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but NWS has an 80% chance of rain all day Saturday. Very disappointing to miss my first chance at this ride.

NOTE: As of 01/01/2022, we have become a member-supported club.  We encourage all of our cycling friends to join us.  For new riders, our club insurance covers non-members of the club for their first ride only.  Thanks.

We are planning additional rides each week, so stay tuned!  If you are interested in helping to organize a group ride for the Club, please contact us!

For details on how group rides are categorized, check out the Ride Classification guidelines.

Requirements For Riders

All riders are required to have a helmet; a tail light, Road ID and a rear-view mirror is strongly recommended.  You are also expected to have adequate fluids and a road-worthy bicycle in good repair.  Many rides, but not all, will include the opportunity to stop at a store to replenish supplies.

You should be prepared to fix a flat tire and perform other minor repairs on the road side.  If you are new to cycling and are not comfortable with these procedures, don’t let that stop you.  However, you might want to talk to a more experienced member before the ride so the group is prepared to help if necessary.

Safety On The Road

The club considers safety to be our very highest priority.  Please review the information on the Safety Page before you join us for a ride.

We hope that you will find this site helpful; your questions and comments are welcomed.
