Stony Point/Cismont Gravel ride (20, Casual Riders, H, GR)

June 12 @ 9:00 am

This is a gravel route hosted by Kamyar who would like to encourage us to eat along the way by making a stop at a store. He says: “I love the Stony Point-Cismont gravel ride, and I am willing to go as slow as necessary. Lunch will be midway of our ride. I believe the name of the cafe is Stony pt market. They are a local cafe and so a light brunch will be ideal. Either way, I will be happy to facilitate this ride.”

Please RSVP in the comments below to let us know if you can make it. Please also make sure to check the comments before the ride in case the weather gave us cold feet (or otherwise)…

Just checked the weather – heavy thunderstorms on the radar at 0930. We’re a little concerned about the sections on busier roads in heavy rain, so we sadly will not be coming. Thanks so much for hosting this ride – hope to do it another time.

the ride is cancelled due to the rain. I will try to coordinate and have this ride up again in the near future.

NOTE: As of 01/01/2022, we have become a member-supported club.  We encourage all of our cycling friends to join us.  For new riders, our club insurance covers non-members of the club for their first ride only.  Thanks.

As we head into Spring 2022, we are planning additional rides each week, so stay tuned!  If you are interested in helping to organize a group ride for the Club, please contact us!

For details on how group rides are categorized, check out the Ride Classification guidelines.

Requirements For Riders

All riders are required to have a helmet; a tail light, Road ID and a rear-view mirror is strongly recommended.  You are also expected to have adequate fluids and a road-worthy bicycle in good repair.  Many rides, but not all, will include the opportunity to stop at a store to replenish supplies.

You should be prepared to fix a flat tire and perform other minor repairs on the road side.  If you are new to cycling and are not comfortable with these procedures, don’t let that stop you.  However, you might want to talk to a more experienced member before the ride so the group is prepared to help if necessary.

Safety On The Road

The club considers safety to be our very highest priority.  Please review the information on the Safety Page before you join us for a ride.

We hope that you will find this site helpful; your questions and comments are welcomed.
