Once again all the rides for the weekend of 1/29 & 30 have been cancelled. No rides this month, we’re on a roll! 😝

Reposting from our weekly email: If you live or ride in Orange County, are you interested in keeping gravel roads in the county unpaved, when appropriate? If so, please contact Don McCown, a Field Representative of the Piedmont Environmental Council, with your comments at dmccown@pecva.org or 434-977-2033 x7047.

Hey Gravel enthusiasts! OSM (Open Street Maps) is used by most of the mapping and navigation applications, including RWGPS, where the surface type is displayed on the maps. I have noticed numerous roads in the area are incorrectly shown as paved when they are not!! Or in some cases unpaved when they are paved. I have signed up as a OSM editor and have already edited many roads in the area with updated road surface information. If you come across any of these incorrectly indicated surface types please send me a note and I will see about editing them. It is a great resource to be able to see what is paved and not paved when creating routes!!! peter@charlottesvillebicycleclub.org
