Schuyler – Rockfish

Short Route GPS
Short Route Map & Cue Sheet
Long Route GPS
Long Route Map & Cue Sheet

Distance: 38 / 49 miles
Climbing: 70 / 65 feet per mile

Description: From the Crossroads Store, this modestly hilly ride heads south to Alberene then into eastern Nelson County to the Rockfish area. The next stretch is an out-and-back along 5 miles of the Rockfish River on one of the flattest stretches of road in the area, followed by a climb up to the village of Schuyler before finishing with 15 miles of rolling terrain back to the starting point. Don’t miss the Walton’s Mountain Museum in Schuyler.  The short route skips the out-and-back along the Rockfish River.

Stores: Mile 0 (Crossroads); mile 22 / 33 (Schuyler)

Alerts:  There are two 2-mile stretches (at Mile 14.4 and Mile 24.6 / 35.6) on Route 6; traffic is fast but quite sparse and the road is broad with excellent pavement.

Starting Point:

   Crossroads Store
   4916 Plank Rd
   North Garden, VA 22959
   GPS: 37.956594, -78.658049
